Dev-Logs

Act III of The House Of The Broken Clock has been getting hammered at. This marks the point where the game is almost ready for a Steam release like the plan from the start of this journey. Art is in the process as well. The plan is to get the art made and redoing all of the store listings of the game to match the Steam release. It will be a rollout. Probably a month of hype building or two months. No decision has been made yet. The third act of the game will be shorter and smaller than the rest of the acts. This is because of how much building had been done of the other two acts, but more content will come out for the game after release if no building is done after Act III is fully finished. Although between the listing and the full release coming out changes could be made. Many of the updates that will come out will focus on removing much of the content that was laid out by RPG Makers native assets. This will come from custom tilesets, and hiring artists to make things for the game. A lot is planned for this game. Here is a screenshot for where the game is at right now.

The screentshot is the current build of one of the areas in the final act of the game. The game is around 2-3hrs to play all the way through. Maybe around 4hrs with side content. The side content will grow by the full release date. Hopefully everyone will find something to enjoy about the game.

The new update for The House With The Broken Clock is in full swing. The goal for this update is to add new areas, and quests. It will also be adding more of the post Act II content for Act I areas that are unlocked after a specific quest is finished in Act II. It will also be expanding more of Act II with areas that can be unlocked through finishing puzzles or item exchange. The idea of puzzles will be new for the game itself, and for our team. This puzzle work will streatch back to Act I. This game should do more expanding on the game than the last one. This update has no release date and is at least aiming for a time frame of fall of this year.

The new update for my game is out now! It was released a bit late due to being so busy lately. This update adds new rooms, dungeons, quests, and NPCs. Hopefully you enjoy the update. We are leaving a mystery about the update on purpose because that is the theme of the update. Mystery.

Well it has been a while since a dev-log has been posted. A ton of progress has been made on The House With The Broken Clock. Changes has been made to the entire game to make it look and play better, and more is going to be coming with the future updates. More quests have been added and secret areas have been placed in the game for people to find when they go back through the game after doing one of the mid game optional quests in Act II. The idea of putting more in the game with future updates is the most exciting thing that we could think about for the game. Not all of these areas are large and not all of them are small. Not many of them have enemies to fight while a some of them have nothing but enemies. They will be fleshed out with updates as well. This game has more that can be done and that is the aim for when the game is fully finished. The plan is still to do support for at least two years after the game is finished.

The game has gained several new areas now fleshing out the area of Act II and has added some new quests to the game. We haven't tested out the new additions to the game yet, but that will happen before the release of the new update. We have been working on this update for a while, but we have more time that is going to be put into the game. This one will need to be bigger for us to entertain the idea of releasing it yet. This log is going to include a screenshot from the release. This update in our hopes will add much more for the players to do in the game as a whole which has been the goal for every update we have done, but with stuff going on outside of working on the game the update is taking longer in a time frame than the other updates, but that doesn't mean that nothing is being done. It is just taking a bit to get it into a playable state. A video about the update is planned soon, but it won't be a trailer more just talking about the state of the game.

Stage Screenshot:

We believe that this update and Act II as a whole is also going to show the step up we have taken in our level design as well. That is as featured in the screenshot above. Some of these areas are also going to step into the area of horror like the game was planned to do in the first place before we changed the plans due to how the game felt when it was played. It is also planned that with this update a date is going to start being given for update windows for the game. This is so players can update their games on that date. That as long as we don't push the updates back.

We wanted to do faster updates and more frequent, but it lead to burnout and weaker releases. This update will prove that moving at our pace will provide better updates. The goal is to release a few more smaller updates and another big update by the end of the year for the game.

That is all for now, and look for new updates to the website as a whole.

The biggest update to put in this Dev-Log is that we are fleshing out what we have made in the game right now. This includes more quests and creatures. We have also started putting in more achievements, but we do not have that fully implimented in the game right now. This is due to focusing on other things in the game itself. The part of the game we are in needs more expansion put into it before anything else can be done. It is because we are trying to build it in chunks that are built and functioning rather than build everything and it not function.

We are going to try to get a new Dev-Log out in video format to go over what has been done so far. So much has to be done though that the video might take a while to comeout. That being said. A lot is going into this project and getting it finished. Having it done just feels more important than getting videos out about the game. We know we put out a version of the game and called it 0.2.0, but this version is the full 0.2.0 release. That being because we made a mistake when putting out the last version. This release will fix those issues. It is an issue that we should have seen before releasing what we had.

It was a simple mistake where we forgot to open the access to the Act II section of the game in Eden. It has been fixed in this current release state. More is being added before this version comes out. Content and quality above all is the goal. It is also for the sake of transparency that we are admitting our mistake. Hopefully you will check out the game. If you don't it is okay.

We been hard at work at tackling the maps and fleshing them out to tell stories with the enviroment, but we think we have found a way to tackle the issue with out ARPG update for the other version of The House With The Broken Clock. This being hiring a freelance worker from Fiverr or another service similar to it. This comes as we have hit a dead end with the plugin itself and trying to get it to work. We want the game and the update to release as soon as we can so that you can all play the game as it was intended. Even if we can hire this person and get the code fixed support for Classic will still go on until the game is finished. It cannot be dropped due to the new version of the game being finished. This game means a lot to us and it just needs to get out and playable for all. We have started a fund raiser for the game on Player3 if you don't mind to check it out. Player3 Profile and Fundraiser

UPDATE RELEASE

0.2.0 Classic Stage 1 has been released on all platforms that host The House With The Broken Clock. This update mostly brings in new enemies, NPCs, lore, and a new feature. The new feature being a quest log that might have issues working. It is still in progress of being implimented so not all quests are avalible in the log yet. Some new quests are going to be put into the game with the next few updates and other new things are going to be put in that are in the files but not used. Changes had been made to parts of Act I and will continue after this until we have reached 0.3.0 which by then the hopes are to have the game up on Steam for added exposure to crowds. Because 0.3.0 will mark the start of the ending of the story. Everything after that going into the path to 1.0 is going to be expanding the game with side content and fixing the game as a whole. The reason we want to do it this way is to help extend the life of the game and it's support. It will also be the end of rollout updates when the game hits 0.4.0 meaning that the only thing that will cause it to be like 0.?.? will be if the game gets a patch.

I hope that everyone understands the mapping of the games future after this update rollout is finished. The game doesn't have an official road map for this year, but the hope is to get the full story finished this year.

We have made around 5 or 6 new areas for the game. We are getting them done in a general sense and then adding details over time with updates. Right now we want to get them up and running for players with at least some barebones shape. We are adding to the older areas that have already been in the game since the start. This focus for now is going to be on The Garden and The Cave System. These changes include new places to go to and new dungeons/branching caves, monsters, and quests. We are working on the new areas for Act II, but they are right now going to be put on hold for the revamps of the older areas. Mostly because it isn't going to be much work to fix up places that are already finished.

The quests that we plan on putting in are going to be longer and less vague than the ones that are already in the game. A quest journal is planned to be put into the game. It will take work to get all of the quests into the journal for players to know what they are needing to do at the time and can go back to look at the quests that they have accepted. It will include tracking for players to see which quest they are focusing on. Although the file for the quest log is in the game it will not be a main focus for the update. It will either come in the update or will be added in a patch after the update is finished.

The first new enemy that players will find with the update will be in The Garden, but it shouldn't be too much trouble for them. It is added mostly to bring life to the area. Many non hostile creatures have been placed in several places to bring life to the world. This will be repeated throughout the process of updating the game from now until the game is finished. Screenshots and updates will be coming in the future to share what has been worked on in this update.

This is a good update for once since we had made the announcement of the 0.2.0 update. We have made progress mainly on maps, areas, some NPCs. We have or will be going to go back to some of the maps that had already been made and rework the layouts. The NPCs will also get some reworking in the process. This is just going to be done in a way to get some bugs ahead of release. We are trying hard to get it all done and done right. This update is probably the most important of the game. Below is a screenshot of one of the areas put into the game.

We have made a hard choice in the developement of the game. This choice being to release a second version of the game. This is to make the game more accessible to more people that want to play the game. It is also a way to get the new update out and to fans while working on the new combat system that has been in progress. This is being seen as a way to get more content out as we take this giant step in the games life. Over on itch.io the game is being sold with both classic and new in one package. GameJolt and Player3 have them listed seperately. This is due to how the platforms are built. The price is still $5 on Player 3 no matter the version and so on. The classic version is already on an unstable unfinished version of 0.2.0 due to the timing of its upload to the platforms. A video was also released talking about the decision of releasing this version of the game. Announcement Video

-The House With The Broken Clock-

This is being typed before much is done to the game, but many of the bugs created has been taken care of. Although it has to be said that this process would have been better done. Before so many triggers and other switches had been made with the old game fighting style. The combat change came after much of the game had been made, so the combat change is having to tread over, undo, and change much of what was already there. Which is causing issues in bringing in the new code and plugins.

This has caused set backs, but many more things are being learned in this process with this being the first game in what is hoped to be a long career. That is why getting this one as close to perfect as it could get is so important. Although that is what is going to hold the game back as well. To get what is wrong with the game right now might require help. Having an image makes getting help hard, but if the game is to reach a new version release before getting too far into the year is to happen then help has to happen.
